TigerPress Winner in Printing Awards of Excellence Competition
BOSTON, MA - April 25, 2018 - PINE has announced that TigerPress of East Longmeadow, MA is an award winner in the Association’s New England regional Awards of Excellence Competition. The announcement was made April 10 during PINE’s Industry Awards Gala, held at the Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA, with hundreds of industry professionals in attendance. PINE’s Awards of Excellence Competition, attracted over 365 entries from 45 printing and imaging companies across New England competing in a variety of printing and graphic communications categories such as best annual report, direct mail campaign, labels & packaging, and more.
TigerPress won one Award of Recognition, and two Awards of Merit. A panel of judges with extensive experience in printing and print production, were brought in to examine the wide range of work submitted. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.
“Our judges have a total of 80 years of print production experience and are invited across the country to other PIA associations to judge so they have seen all levels of print,” said Christine Hagopian, PINE’s Director of Programs. “The quality of PINE members' entries can stand up against any other across the country. Our members should be very proud of that.”

TigerPress, a woman-owned, commercial and package printing operation based in East Longmeadow, MA, has completed the installation of a new Komori GL640 Printing Press. “This technology is an example of our commitment to customer satisfaction and growing the local economy.” said Reza Shafii, President of TigerPress. He added, “The Printing Press is now in full operation seven days a week and already booked for next several weeks”.
TigerPress produces about 70% of its electricity with the 2,500 Solar panels that were installed on the plant’s roof in 2017. “We also upgraded our workflow in 2017 and invested in new equipment to stay ahead of the curve”, said Jennifer Shafii, CEO of TigerPress. She added, “we have invested close to $5,000,000 to install clean Solar Energy, train employees in lean manufacturing, and upgrade machinery to service our clients better, faster, and be more environmentally responsible.” TigerPress continues to grow and offer more local manufacturing jobs. “With the help of a Workforce Training Fund, we managed to re-train most staff and have created 8 new jobs within last year alone”, Jennifer added.
The new Komori GL640 Printing Press offers several new technologies including automatic registration and closed loop color control and meets our high quality standards. With printing speeds of 16,500 of 28x40” sheets per hours, this new addition will have immediate impact in TigerPress’ ability to compete in larger markets and bring more jobs to Western Mass.

EnterSolar has completed the installation of our 653 kW Photovoltaic Array and National Grid has given authorization to start generating power. The grid consists of 2,466 individual panels covering the roof of our East Longmeadow production facility. Solar Photovoltaic("PV") Systems generate electricity by converting light energy into electrical energy via the photovoltaic effect. NORTH BROOKFIELD, MA – JUNE 24, 2016 – The Baker-Polito administration today announced more than $8.47 million in Workforce Training Grant funds to 101 companies, which will enable the businesses to train current or newly hired workers. Lt. Governor Karyn Polito made the announcement in North Brookfield, and one of the recipient was TigerPress of East Longmeadow. Senator Eric Lesser and representative Brian Ashe visited TigerPress manufacturing facility today, and congratulated the owners, Reza and Jennifer Shafii. TigerPress was awarded a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development to implement lean manufacturing training for its plant in East Longmeadow. The Workforce Training Fund helps address business productivity and competitiveness by providing resources to Massachusetts businesses to train current and newly hired employees.
